The Goal:
- To provide South Florida doubles players competitive, scheduled match play for you and your partner.

- The average rating of each player will determine the team’s level of play.
Format:
- A Palm Tennis Partner “team” consists of two players and up to two substitutes.
- Matches will be 2 out of 3 sets. At 6 games all a 7-point tiebreaker (first to 7 by 2) will be played. If sets are split, a third set WILL be played unless all 4 players agree to a match tiebreaker (first to 10 by 2).
- Matches should start promptly. If a player/team is more than 15 minutes late, the team must forfeit the match.
- Warm-up is limited to 10 minutes, including practice serves. A 10-minute break may be taken after the second set. Otherwise, play must be continuous throughout the match as specified in USTA Rules.
Teams:
- Team rosters should have a minimum of 2 players.
- Teams must list their home courts when joining the league.
- The home team is required to call their opponents at least 2 days prior to the scheduled match to confirm start time, directions to the courts, etc.
- Teams listed as “home” are responsible for reserving a court for a minimum of one and one-half hours.

a point for each game won in their two highest scoring sets up to a maximum of 8 points for each match
played. Example #1 - match score 6-4, 6-2, winner = 14 pts. & loser = 6 pts. Example #2 - match score 6-2,
4-6, 7-5, winner = 12 pts. & loser = 8 pts
Scheduling and Defaults:
- Matches will be scheduled for Saturdays. The official match start time for Palm Tennis Partners is 9:30 a.m., however, players whose club requires a later start time are welcome to join the league but will be required to play at their opponents’ club, if the opponents can provide courts at an earlier start time. The latest start time will be 11am.
- A team having excessive defaults shall have all its matches to date nullified and shall be treated as a bye for the remainder of the season. Excessive defaults are when a team has forfeited two matches.
- If a team has excessive defaults, they may be suspended for the next season.
- All matches should be played on their scheduled day of play but sometimes there are circumstances that need to be considered, i.e. vacations. The team that is available to play on the scheduled day of play is by no means obligated to reschedule the match and can have the match defaulted in their favor. If there is an agreement to reschedule the match, then it must be completed within 7 days of scheduled match.
- Schedules will be made available to the players at the start of the season and teams will be listed as “home” or “away”.
Inclement Weather Policy:
- If a match is rained out, it must be rescheduled within two weeks.
- If a match is interrupted due to rain, it must be made up within two weeks. All games and points played before the interruption stand and play resumes from that point.
- Each team shall provide two make-up dates to their opponents within the 2 week timeframe. If a make-up date cannot be agreed to, both teams shall receive a default.
